Product Development Consultation
Book 30-Minute Product Development Consultation
What is Cosmetic Product Development?
Cosmetic Product development is a process in which a Cosmetic Chemist gathers detailed information from the client in order to conduct a set of experiments to meet a desired outcome for both Chemist and client. Information gathered consists of preferred ingredients, product consistency, application, feel, and effectiveness, to name a few. The Cosmetic Chemist will then use their expertise combined with research to create a formula unique to the market place.
Cosmetic Product Development Benefits:
The type of client that will benefit the most from Cosmetic Product Development is someone who already has success with their current product offerings and/or looking to add an exclusive product to their salon, spa or barbershop. Although we offer 85+ customizable formulas for you to brand as your very own, we understand that you may want to offer a new product based solely on your specifications and/or may want to add a new formula to your existing brand. Perhaps you want to develop a product that is not offered via Private Label. This is a great way to get innovative and creative!
About Our Chemist:
Adrianne White is the Owner and Founder of Envii Labs, Inc. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Forensic Chemistry and a Masters of Business Administration. She has operated in the Private Label Manufacturing industry for 10 years. In the beginning, she offered Cosmetic Product Development, however, due to heavy demand for Private Label and scaling operations, it was terminated. As of the 1st Quarter of 2025, she has reintroduce the service after formulating hundreds of products and servicing tens of thousands of clients over the years.
What You Can Expect From Our Chemist:
During the product development consultation, we will discuss a preliminary formula that is drafted prior to the scheduled call, based on details gathered from the intake form. You will be asked about specific ingredients you want or do not want in the formula; along with general questions regarding vision, mission, target, launch expectations etc. If you already have an existing formula (proven) that you would like to discuss, our Chemist will be happy to go over the contract manufacturing process and provide recommendations on revisions/refinements. During the development phase, our Chemist will provide you with adequate updates pertaining to your experiment. Ideally, the goal is to get it right the first time, but that is not always the case, so there may be a need to rework a formula two or three times to gain client approval. Price of product development includes the cost to experiment up to three times. After the third attempt, there will be a fee for each attempt thereafter until client satisfaction is met or deemed acceptable.
How Long Does Cosmetic Product Development Take?
Lead
time can vary greatly depending on the product being formulated. Typical formulation can take as short as 60 days to 120. In more detailed cases, development can extend into several months, especially if the client wishes to have
specific testing done such as PET, Stability and Clinical trials (outsourced). Typically, you can expect from start to
finish
(including gathering of ingredients if we do not have on hand), a lead time of 2-3 weeks to receive your first set of samples. In order to ensure your product meets all requirements in safety and stability, your
product will be sent to our 3rd party lab to conduct the testing that you choose. You also can
omit
this process or send the formula to a lab of your choice at a later date.

Are there Alternatives to Cosmetic Product Development if I am Low on Start-up Funds?
Yes.
We offer 85+ customizable formulas for you to brand as your own, that will save you thousands in start-up
costs. Simply change/remove fragrance, add two or more conditioning agents, moisturizing agents, oils and
butters. If you have an active ingredient, or your own oils/fragrance, you can send us that as well. The
difference in selecting from our stock formulas and Cosmetic Product Development is that you will have
exclusive
rights to your formula. In addition, product development is a more refined approach that makes sure each
ingredient is intentional. You get to request the use of particular ingredients and what levels you would
like
as oppose to only being able to add ingredients. Our Private Label formulas are tried, tested and true. It
is
ideal to offer 1 or 2 of our customizable formulas along with your uniquely curated formula(s) designed by
our
Chemist.
